Flying high, staying grounded: Inside the Steelbacks' unbeaten T20 Blast start

It’s been the perfect start to this season’s Vitality Blast for Northamptonshire Steelbacks who have ridden a wave of momentum to the top of the Central and West group unbeaten after six games.

A nail-biting opening win against Glamorgan was early proof this team could get over the line under pressure, a spirit they showed again in a low-scoring thriller at Durham last weekend.

Other victories have been more emphatic, notably the 100-run dismantling of Worcestershire at New Road, while victory at Edgbaston, abetted by Chris Lynn’s stunning century, was proof the Steelbacks can chase even the biggest totals.

Before we return to Championship action for the next two weeks, it’s a perfect time to reflect on some of the secrets behind the Steelbacks’ campaign, savour the highlights and look ahead to the second stage of the competition in late June.
