A new indoor cricket centre in Padbury offering extended bowling run-ups, specialist coaching and partnerships with local clubs and schools is providing additional winter training opportunities for players across south Northamptonshire and the wider region.

The Forge Cricket Hub, a five-lane facility, provides more than a conventional indoor nets facility, including three lanes with extended run-ups of more than 15 metres, while its coaching team features Northamptonshire legends and international stars – including Monty Panesar, Saqlain Mushtaq, David Ripley, and Adam Rossington.

Nick Broome, lead coach within the Northants Under 15s and Under 16s age groups, speaking in a video published by The Forge, praised the facilities including the extended run-ups which are of particular benefit to medium and fast bowlers.
