After three tough back-to-back games, the week’s break from County Championship action came at a perfect time for Northamptonshire’s men. A chance to rest tired bodies and take stock of progress so far.
The report card reads three draws from three. Before the break, Northamptonshire sat near the top of the Division Two table.
They currently sit in a creditable fourth, boasting the most batting bonus points in the division and the joint second-highest bowling points. Victory over third-placed Worcestershire this weekend could see them leapfrog the Pears and even move into second place if Durham lose at Lord’s.
The Steelbacks came extremely close to victory over Kent at Canterbury but were denied victory by the weather, while bad light prevented what could have been a final day thriller against Middlesex.
