Northamptonshire, chasing 204 to beat runaway leaders Durham with well over two sessions to play, imploded in 22.2 overs of mayhem before lunch could even be taken.
Left-arm spinner Callum Parkinson returned startling figures of six for 20, while Matthew Potts banged down the door for a Test recall at the other end.
So, what happened? Did Northamptonshire freeze, unable to press home an advantage? Or was this evidence that the county are not yet ready to compete in Division One next year against top-class opposition?
