Justin Broad will miss the rest of the season as he takes time to recover from the lower back injury he sustained earlier this year.
Broad, named vice-captain for this year’s Blast campaign, has managed just 10 first-team games this season but has not been able to bowl.
He will now miss the rest of the season to allow him to focus on building back to full fitness.
Broad, 26, has played a key all-round role with bat and ball for Northamptonshire since joining the county in 2023 and the vice-captaincy was a sign of head coach Darren Lehmann’s belief in his leadership abilities.
