Northamptonshire batter May Drinkell is backing the Steelbacks to “put on a good show” against Essex in today’s crucial T20 County Cup quarter-final at Wantage Road (Sunday).

Drinkell, 21, who scored her maiden List A half-century against Worcestershire last Sunday to help the county secure a semi-final slot in this year’s One Day Cup, has been a mainstay of the County Cup campaign.

Her unbeaten 47 off 27 balls, with six fours and a six, played a key part in setting up the Steelbacks’ crushing 75-run third-round victory over Derbyshire which booked them a place in today’s quarter-final.
