Batting coach Greg Smith described the bowlers’ impact as ‘unbelievable’ as Northamptonshire moved closer to sealing back-to-back Rothesay County Championship victories against Gloucestershire.
Liam Guthrie again led the way with a stack of wickets on a day in which the hosts claimed 12 Gloucester scalps at the cinch County Ground, Wantage Road.
Left-arm seamer Guthrie, who contributed a career-best 52 with the bat earlier in the match, took four for 50 to dismiss the visitors for 268 in their first innings and added another three wickets for 59 after Northamptonshire enforced the follow-on.
