Northamptonshire's bowlers had Worcestershire on the rack before keeper-batter Gareth Roderick played a brilliant lone hand with a combative unbeaten 164 on day one of this Rothesay County Championship clash at Wantage Road.

Roderick batted for almost five-and-a-half hours, compiling Worcestershire's first hundred of the summer to force the Pears into a commanding position after an early collapse.
