Northamptonshire ended their first three-match block of County Championship games with another draw as a determined 162 from Sam Robson dented any hopes of early breakthroughs on the final day against Middlesex.
The former England opener offered a tough chance off the second ball of the day to Saif Zaib at short midwicket, but otherwise showed great patience as he waited to put the bad balls away, stroking 21 boundaries all around the wicket during a stay of more than six hours.
