McManus shines with career-best, but Somerset inflict second successive defeat on Steelbacks

Lewis McManus staged a one-man show with the bat for Northamptonshire at Taunton, but it was not enough to prevent a second successive heavy defeat to the reigning champions.
The Steelbacks lost by seven wickets after openers Will Smeed and Thomas Rew again unleashed some explosive hitting as the hosts chased down 163 with a full five overs to spare.
Smeed and Rew both hit 46 off 20 balls in putting together a blistering stand of 74 in 5.2 overs that effectively settled the outcome. Tom Kohler-Cadmore saw them over the line with 38 not out.
Earlier the Steelbacks posted 162 for eight after losing the toss. McManus, moved up the order, hit smashed a career-best 76 off 43 balls, including seven fours and four sixes. Ricardo Vasconcelos and Saif Zaib both made 23. Daniel Sams was the pick of the home bowling attack with three for 16 from four overs.
