Gemma Marriott starred with bat and ball as Northamptonshire Steelbacks beat Derbyshire Rapids to finish the group stage of their One Day Cup campaign in style yesterday.
All-rounder Marriott took three Derbyshire wickets, including breaking a key partnership, before smashing an unbeaten half-century to take her side to victory with seven wickets and more than 20 overs to spare.
Skipper Anisha Patel also took three wickets, while Amelia Kemp and May Drinkell both posted scores in the forties in the run chase.
Already assured of a place in the knockout stages, the Steelbacks went into yesterday’s game at Belper with the outside chance of securing a home semi-final.
