Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann is confident his bowlers can force the Steelbacks into contention after a tough opening day of this Rothesay County Championship match at Derby.
Derbyshire bounced back after losing three consecutive games, with Tasmanian opener Caleb Jewell emerging from a poor run of form to help his side enjoy a day of prosperity at the Central Co-op County Ground.
Jewell responded to moving down the order, after scoring only 58 runs in six innings, with an unbeaten 91 as the home side’s batsmen dominated day one at Derby.
