Northamptonshire Steelbacks beat Somerset by 17 runs in an absolute thriller of a Vitality Blast semi-final at Edgbaston to book themselves a place in this evening’s final.
With Somerset chasing just 144, the Steelbacks had the ideal start with ball in hand, picking up three wickets in the first three overs to reduce Somerset to 12 for three.
But Will Smeed smoked 28 runs off Luke Procter’s first over including two sixes and four fours as Somerset finished the powerplay in the ascendancy on 52 for three.
