Kemp leads remarkable fightback before Essex seal quarter-final victory

Amelia Kemp hit a brilliant unbeaten 88, her highest T20 score, but it was not enough to prevent Northamptonshire falling to a nine-wicket defeat in their Vitality T20 County Cup quarter-final at Wantage Road.
Kemp led a valiant fightback, taking the responsibility fully on her shoulders, after the Steelbacks lost early wickets batting first, hauling them from a perilous 19 for five to 123 for eight.
She struck 16 boundaries as she passed 1,000 T20 career runs, finding solid support from Alicia Presland (6) and Liz Russell (5), who were content to play the supporting role while she played her shots.
