Gus Miller hit a maiden first-class half-century after an emergency call to replace the injured Luke Procter on day three of Northamptonshire’s enthralling Rothesay County Championship clash with promotion rivals Durham.
Miller was playing for Northamptonshire Cricket League Premier side Kislingbury Temperance CC against Peterborough yesterday when he received the call to head north.
Miller was quickly into his work, opening the batting in place of Procter who had suffered a finger injury on day two. He scored 61 off 86 balls with eight boundaries and shared a third-wicket stand of 92 with Nathan McSweeney after Northamptonshire lost two early second innings wickets against a hostile Matthew Potts.
