Chapple rues another below-par batting display as Steelbacks fall to Outlaws

Northamptonshire senior assistant coach Glen Chapple was left to rue another below-par Steelbacks batting display as they lost to Nottinghamshire Outlaws in the Metro Bank One Day Cup yesterday.
Chapple was particularly disappointed after the Steelbacks reverted to posting first-innings totals in the 250s after seeming to have turned the tide with a sizeable 347 for six against Lancashire last Sunday.
To ease pressure on the heavily-used square at Trent Bridge, Notts ‘borrowed’ Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, from neighbours Derbyshire for this fixture and it proved a lucky move. Freddie McCann made a List A career-best 91, Haseeb Hameed 51, after being dropped before scoring, and Lyndon James 45 not out as Notts overhauled the Steelbacks’ 259 for eight with 20 balls to spare. Liam Guthrie and Yuzi Chahal shared two wickets apiece.
