Guthrie’s all-round show creates welcome selection headache for Lehmann

Liam Guthrie has done his best through his performance with bat and ball against Gloucestershire to present Darren Lehmann with another selection dilemma.
Competition for places has been a mantra for the Northamptonshire head coach this season and he will be pleased to see Guthrie seize his chance to open the bowling in place of the rested Ben Sanderson and claiming four wickets for 50.
Guthrie responded with the bat too. He hit his second half-century of the summer, and of his career, going one better than the 51 he scored against Middlesex in April. He was even afforded the luxury of a nightwatcher, Harry Conway sent in ahead of him on Friday evening.
