Chris Lynn arrived early to acclimatise before his stint in this year’s Vitality Blast. If the chill winds blowing across a blustery Northampton were a shock to the system after downtime on the beach in Australia, he has settled quickly back into life in the town.
It’s clear this is more than just another T20 gig.
Lynn played here in 2022 and 2023 and clearly feels at home as he reconnects with friends and fans. Excited to be back, he recounts chatting to supporters during everyday stops at Magee Street Bakery and says he has been busy catching up on the Saints’ Premiership rugby challenge.
There is also unfinished business. Lynn returns to Wantage Road after last September’s Finals Day, where he broke Northamptonshire hearts. Playing for Hampshire, he blazed an outstanding, unbeaten 108 off 51 balls in a total of 155 for 4 as the Hawks knocked the Steelbacks out at the semi-final stage.
