Northamptonshire’s opening salvos in this season’s County Championship have been full of contrasts – from a hard-fought home draw against Lancashire, to utter dominance at Canterbury, only to be thwarted by the weather.
Both games demanded a different response from the Steelbacks and head coach Darren Lehmann has praised his side for their resilience at Wantage Road and for bossing the game against Kent.
Speaking to media yesterday evening at Canterbury, Lehmann said: “There's so many positives. It was a really good performance. If we’d played the whole game, there's no doubt we'd probably get away with the chocolates there.
“So, we played so well, dominated the game from ball one really. And if we play like that, we'll have some really good results. It's just frustrating. We had a couple last year and now this one this year, but that's weather and that's England.”
