Lehmann demands more from Steelbacks batters after difficult One Day Cup start

The scene was Edgbaston two weeks ago, moments after the Steelbacks were presented with the Vitality Blast trophy for the first time in a decade.
Before the celebrations could begin in earnest, Luke Procter reminded Darren Lehmann that the county had more things to achieve starting just three days later with the start of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Such is the relentless, unforgiving county cricket schedule. With the festivities barely over, the Steelbacks faced the sudden whiplash of adapting quickly to a very different format.
The One Day Cup has been something of an Achilles heel for Northamptonshire in recent years. They managed just one win in last year’s tournament and finished bottom of their group. They fared little better in the preceding post-pandemic years either.
