Miller says maiden century was sweeter after injury battle

Steelbacks all-rounder Gus Miller says his maiden first-team century against Lancashire on Sunday tasted that much sweeter after battling back from injury.
Opening the batting, Miller struck nine fours and four sixes in an excellent 115 which set up a 67-run victory in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Wantage Road. The win saw Northamptonshire respond emphatically after a disappointing defeat to Leicestershire last Friday.
Miller atoned for running out Ricardo Vasconcelos early, going on to share a 153-run partnership in 25 overs with Aadi Sharma who made 61.
He was particularly pleased to post a sizeable total after head coach Darren Lehmann challenged players to convert promising starts into telling contributions. Before Sunday, Miller had scored 59 runs in four innings in this year’s competition with a highest score of 35.
